Aloo Poha

Aloo Poha
Flattened rice with Potatoes.

Time Required: 20 Minutes
Serves: 4


4 Cups thick Poha/Avalakki/Flattened Rice
1 Potato
1 Onion, Chopped
3 Green Chilies, Chopped
2tbsp Oil
1tsp Jeera/Cumin Seeds
1tsp Mustard Seeds
½ tsp Haldi/Turmeric Powder
Juice of 1 Lemon
2tbsp Coriander Leaves
Alu Bhujia Sev or Plain Sev (Optional)
2 – 3tbsp Grated fresh Coconut
Salt to taste


Soak Poha for 10 Minutes. Boil Potato and cut into cubes. Heat Oil, add Mustard Seeds and when they splutter add Jeera, Haldi, Onion and Chilies and stir for two minutes. Add Poha, Potato, Lemon Juice and Salt and mix well. Serve garnished with Coriander leaves, Coconut and plain Sev.
